Episode 68 – Checkpoint in 2025.

What BE a Scholar Tuition offers is summarised in the 10 topics below. I think they are very competitive as the topics consist of what the school covers and not cover.

1. Robotics – Sequential Processing – Autonomous behaviour

  • Define a goal, draw the flow program
  • Build Robots to identify design features
  • Programming with a graphical user interface
  • Use conditional functions and loops.

2. Coding – Computer language – Generic syntax

  • Vocabulary and Grammar
  • Examples and coding approaches
  • Write your own Python code.

3. AI – Markov and Bayesian – think with artificial intelligence (to be extra intelligent)

  • Know the difference between Markov and Bayesian Models
  • Discover probabilities and uncertainties
  • Analysis board-games – States, transitions, actions, rewards, etc
  • How that relates to the coding.

4. Coming soon – Maths Challenge (Personally I am excited about this one due to age of my child)

  • Do Maths Challenge (from age 9 onwards)
  • Investigate the most efficient way to solve problems.
  • Build up a portfolio of mathematical concepts.

5. Music structured approach – Focused on the mentality

  • Focus on the mental aspect to ensure longevity. The musical journey is a marathon. How to make it last?
  • Explore musical history and theory
  • Look for musical inspirations. APT APT

6. Graphical Representation – Poster making, show and tell.

  • How to show a large amount of information in a concise way
  • How to present and practise interact with Audience
  • Questions and answers

7. Reading approach – Book review – I covered this ages ago.

  • What are you reading?
  • Do you remember it? or Read and forget?
  • Focus on the best aspects and understand why the segment is good

8. Writing approach – Outlines – I covered this ages ago.

  • Use and optimise outlines.
  • Write lots.

9. Sports to balance

  • Sports are important to balance all of the above.
  • Team sports or solo sports
  • Tennis is a solo sports.

10. KPIs – continuous improvement – if you work on something, you will get

  • Quality – what does good look like?
  • Time – how long do you spend?
  • Cost – is it sustainable?
  • Deliverables – what are the observable outputs?

This has effectively been a blog for me to explore what sort of environment will see the best versions of each child. A balanced approach, efficiency for the best use of available resources, and clear outputs to show “passions”, “insights”, and “expertise”, what I discuss with parents.

The King’s Scholarship level is still the goal.
