Episode 26 – Outline template – For your posts

What is an Outline

An outline helps to organise your ideas into a logical argument that any reader can follow. Outlines can be used in projects, essays, presentations and books. A good outline can keep you on track and not get lost in the details. Below is a template to help you structure your posts.

Introduction to the key concept

What is the post about? Why is it relevant? What do you want to write about it?

What can the reader expect?

You might need to introduce the background information to help the reader to understand. What does the reader need to know first? What may the reader find interesting about this post? Think about the approach to engage the reader. What should the reader expect as a conclusion?

Write the details and add some pictures

The next section is to add the details and write about it. Each section should be in self-contained. Subheadings will help to add details to the outline. Pictures will make the post more interesting, after all a picture tells a thousand words.

An example of using heading to write an outline

In summary, an outline contains the top level messages to the reader.

Conclusions

An outline helps you to structure your writing, so you can be more efficient with your writing and resulting in more time to play. The topic of your post may influence how you want to structure your template.
