Episode 18 – Checkpoint 1: The Starting Point

The Road Map

The approach is based on motivation and interests. The free WordPress account will enable the student to create a portfolio to show progress and demonstrate as evidence in future personal statements and interviews.

The generic road-map is shown in Figure 1 below.

Figure 1 shows the Generic Road Map

The Starting point

The starting point is to create a WordPress account, or other online platforms. (e.g. Youtube for Vlog is also feasible) Ensure the WordPress account is in private and use an Alias like “Your favourite sweet – favourite food – random number.” e.g. gummybear_burger2000. (set to private, see figure 2) and share the name with be.a.scholar.tuition@gmail.com .

  1. This will be a place to share information and build your own portfolio (for Personal Statement / Interview).
  2. The area will be for you to write your response/essays and regular reviews will ensure development.
  3. Categories and Tags on each post to keep a structure.
  4. Student-lead approach. Rewards depends on how much effort put in.
  5. Optional feedback to on £10 per month subscribers.
  6. 3 x Feedback 30 minutes sessions to weekly assignments. (Time required and only available for £80.00 per month subscribers)
Make the site live and tick the Private option. Approve members for myself (I can recommended likeminded/similar level students [agreement from all sides] and must follow the moderation policy)

For example, www.delbot1234.co.uk helps to show individuality.

Moderation policy – Proceed with agreement.

  1. Be friendly to everyone, as we are all here to learn and find the BEST version of ourselves.
  2. Exchange ideas are positive and adds value to the community.
  3. Constructive feedback are welcome and encouraged.
  4. Agree to disagree (we all have different views and background, we allow more than one voice)
  5. Personal attacks are not acceptable.
  6. No swear words are allowed.
  7. No bullying of any form.

Blog post 1 introduction to myself.

1. Introduction to myself

Write about yourself, and your family (are you the eldest? any brother and sisters?), how old (in 2023 – or at the year of writing)? Any pets?

2. My aspirations

These changes all the time, which is great. I want to be _____ because …

3. My interests

What do you like to do in your free time? What are your favourite books? Favourite movies?

4. My routine

Do you have a routine? Would you be open to a routine? How much study time do you have on weekdays/ and weekends?

5. My likes and dislikes

What subjects at school do you like? and dislike? Do you like reading books? (Reading books is a pretty important part of learning)
