Pathfinding through UK education.
BE a Scholar Tuition offers an Education insight that can be tailored to the parent/s and child. I wish every child can achieve their aspirations and reach their goals. I provide monthly and every 2 weeks review to ensure they are on track.
The approach is about creating a unique portfolio. A unique portfolio that interviewers can identify skills that are important in life and beyond academic achievements. Like creativity, teamwork, communication and resilience. I look to add value by ensure available learning resources in terms of monetary and time are spent efficiently. The aim is for a child by the age of 13 to be as competitive in their subjects of choice because that would increase the probability of them achieving their aspirations.
- King’s Scholarship Paper – Academic papers, the English and General Knowledge papers and (Debating) are very traditional pillars of the British college education style. (focus on those papers)
- Mathematics – I use UK Maths Challenge resources to build logical and creative thinking with less emphasis on repeat and repeat workbook approach.
- Reading and record information with a detailed book review – All schools encourage reading and I have been visiting a lot of schools for my kids. I also encourage writing with suggested outlines.
- Interview preparation is a key part. – The interview can unlock the full potential, apply classical rhetoric and arrange the argument.
- Create a portfolio to demonstrate their passion, excellence, resilience and personality.
- Measure and improve the study environment and routine. Like Kaizen / continuous improvement. My focus is to optimise their learning efficiency.
- I added educational robotics as a great way to learn programming and support STEM subjects.
- Discussion on the four directions to explore; academic, music, art and sport. And defined milestones through the ages for each route.
- The use of visual representation to show information to help revising for exams and presentation preparation.
What else are in the pipeline?
- Create your own boardgame –
- Play lots of boardgames and understand each elements of game play
- Create your own setting / writing / artwork / game dynamics – which would really demonstrate your creativity
- Explore strategies and game theory.
- Python as a second language – so many Linkedin roles asked for Python proficiency.
- Deep-dive into a python source code of an example game to understand the basics of programming
- Create a soft version of your own boardgame.
A 16 yr old can apply to join an F1 team as an apprentice. My mission is for any child who has that aspiration, firstly, they will have the growth mindset that it is possible from any background. It is NOT impossible (maybe improbable). The next step is that they will increase and maximise their probability of success by being the best version of themselves (from improbable to probable) They can possibly then probably impress the interviewers.
