Episode 64 – Timeline through the ages Sports focused.

This episode is based on the Music journey as there are a lot of commonalities between Sports and Music.

Sports journeys are a true test of passion, commitment, discipline, resilience and resources (time and money). The journey is very subjective, ups and downs so I will need to explore the mental aspects. The biological aspect will play more of a part. I wrote a list below for discussion. There are a few points.

  • Passion for Sports is a must and a healthy lifestyle will probably help.
  • Select a Sport (will stay with for a long time) – Sports will cost differently. Golf is likely to be more costly than football or running.
  • Find the coaches and teams – Sports are played at school, weekend clubs etc. This point is about selecting the right environment to develop their games. Clearly, a football club will help to develop football skills.
  • Competitions – Opportunity to play to others in a relatively controlled environment, i.e. people of the similar level.
  • Research sports science like understanding the human anatomy, muscle groups, (I published a paper on muscle pattern activity and how that changes with skills attainment). Warm up exercises that support the group of muscles would help with the sport
  • Better recovery and warm-up should mean less injury and more time to play and train.

If after all that, you still like the sport, then great! Sports like music can be one injury away from reaching their aspirations. Therefore a second option is always advisable.
