Academics, music, art, and sports can all lead to scholarships. Our BE a Scholar Tuition (BEST) is primarily interested in the level of what these scholarships represent. Scholarship represents acknowledgement of a high standard. A panel of subject matter experts (SMEs) have decided that the child has achieved a high level of proficiency in their chosen subject, is unique (why that person and no someone else) and has potential to develop further to warrant further investment in terms of time and resources. However, there are so few scholarships to each child, so one cannot expect a scholarship for everyone. At BEST aims to motivate kids to find the topics that they enjoy to reach a high proficiency and be themselves. We encourage and motivate them to achieve excellence and be competitive in the world. At BEST, we focus on variables that are under our control, and find the best version of ourselves.

What is the BE a Scholar Tuition approach?

In summary, we want the student to create their own personal project and build it to something unique and enjoy while reaching the academic targets. There are three targets. The first one is the National Curriculum level. The student is comfortable with the school’s exams. The second one is King’s Scholarship level, where the student can complete King’s Scholarship paper to a high standard. Finally, the third one is beyond King’s Scholarship level, SME would want to discuss further, and we call this the aspiration level.

The next step is to combine the music and sports aspects with the academic for a balanced approach. A musician can build a portfolio about the theory, their own insight, and compositions. A sportsperson can focus on the sport science aspects, dietary, psychology, tactics, data analysis aspect to optimise their performance. Both sports and music are a long ongoing journey that the mental aspect should be discussed and understood.

BE a Scholar Tuition is about finding a passion or exploring different interests to a high standard. Each child can derive their own approach to explore interests and to develop into a passion to a standard that they are confident on. I believe that I am closer to my mission of applying the Science of Learning and Cognitive Sciences to encourage any child to be who they want to be. They can continue to look for the best version of themselves and are equipped to deal with a complex world.
