Episode 48 – Focus on Social Capital – A new academic year

A new academic year is starting

Let’s define the approach for the academic year 2024/2025. What does BE a Scholar Tuition offer? King’s Scholarship remains the academic benchmark that we strive to guide our students to reach in their subject of interests. The approach is to improve the educational environment where possible to ensure efficient learning. Episode 46 provides the description on Templates, Programme and KPIs. The aim is to achieve a successful outcome in the future interviews for whatever roles or opportunities in whatever subject. The two supporting objectives are 1. find out the topic of interest and 2. convince the gatekeepers for a successful outcome. I realised that Social Capital is a major component for the second objective.

What is Social Capital?

“Social capital refers to the networks, relationships, and social connections that individuals or groups have, which can provide access to resources, support, and opportunities. It encompasses the benefits and advantages that people gain from their social networks, including trust, mutual understanding, shared values, and cooperation within a community or society.” Clearly, I need more social capital, as it helps to get things done and reach my goals. We can logically divide social capital either in one’s control or not in one’s control. Life is hard enough so we will focus on what can be in our control.

What can we do to improve our social capital? AI described 10 things that can help. I expanded on what BEST can offer and the rationales behind them. Some are up-to the individual to decide and are out of BEST’s scope.
