The Road Map
The approach is based on motivation and interests. The free WordPress account will enable the student to create a portfolio to show progress and demonstrate as evidence in future personal statements and interviews.
The generic road-map is shown in Figure 1 below.

Introduction to Mindset
The portfolio is now a collection of the student’s unique work with different writing styles underpinned by the subjects in the National Curriculum. The growth in quality and interest from blog post 1 to whatever number (150 for me now). The student is taking steps to realise their aspirations or is looking for their passions, and demonstrates a growth mindset that anything is achievable with consistent hard effort applied in an efficient way.
Demonstrable Growth Mindset
In an interview, the student can use the portfolio as factual evidence of a growth mindset, which is actual “confidence” metaphorically in their pocket. If one struggles for an example in overcoming adversity in the interview , there is a chance that if the student digs deep into their Portfolio and can recall an example. For example in my case, writing about 150 blog posts (100ish in my travel blog, and 50 in this one) far exceeded my own expectations. I am a determined individual. Also completing my PhD ranks highly. I enjoy writing.
The portfolio can demonstrate continuous improvement. Failure is ok, it is ok to change the topic , or decide to change the current aspiration as each blog post is a reflection of the mindset at that time. Every blog post is an opportunity to improve. My favourite attribute of the portfolio is that it will stand the test of time. I look back on my first post in 14 years ago, I was quite different, and spontaneous. So I can tell my daughter when she is filling in her health and safety forms and going through her annual training presentations to go out, “Daddy used to be fun too, but safety first.”
The challenge for BE a Scholar Tuition is to ensure the subjects in the National Curriculum provide the underlying foundations to the portfolio. The National Curriculum prepares individuals for life, by definition whatever one aspires to do in life will be covered by different academic subjects.
In summary
The portfolio is a metaphoric representation of the mindset. At BE a Scholar Tuition, we look to grow it based on your aspirations, passions and our curiosity. A confidence boost in interviews stored in the back pocket. You may have indirectly prepared for this interview in years while others have only prepared for weeks. The combination of a pseudonym (worked well for Robert Galbraith, different reasons but similar principles) and the option of keeping private, or open to the wider internet is useful to nurture the mindset in the modern age of social media, which takes us to the next Checkpoint 7 – Community.
