Previously on episode 39… I started a Crowdfund
I want to create something spectacular, so I need more thoughts, more effort and to push the standard to be above my best. Crowdfunding will enable me to reach that goal. The BE a Scholar Tuition (BEST) intention is to use the fund to engage 3 (or more) experts from Academic and Commercial settings to discuss the King’s Scholarship questions to compile the best answer as they can be subjective. For example, who would be liable in an autonomous car accident? I would engage an Artificial Intelligence expert, a prosecutor, a defence lawyer or/and another subject matter expert (SME) to explore their point of view and how they would structure their arguments and their advice for those who are interested the related profession. The audience are kids and their parents, so Universal (U) rating.
The BEST intention is to derive the best answer for reference and inspiration. I will be looking for a few hours of each expert’s time for them to prepare and discuss. The format can be a podcast or a ZOOM call. I will write and compile the minutes into a single post for record. A crowdfunded project so I will be making the content will be free to all.
Simple and transparent way to look for the best answer.
My aim is to convert the crowdfund into content. The preliminary plan is 3 hours of each professional’s time. 1st hour to brief and discuss the topic, then 2nd hour is the professional’s turn to prepare relevant material and 3rd hour is the 4 way ZOOM call. I intend to spend 1 hour to brief each one and then schedule a 4 way ZOOM call for 1 hour. I think the write-up will be about 2 to 3 hours. There is scope to use AI for the minutes to save time and labour.
The deliverable will be a ZOOM call. And a post write-up (structure to be defined and improved).
I will have to put in extra time to research and approach each expert. I hope information will reach them through the crowdfunding, which will make my time more efficient. The connection to my previous university is a great pool of experts from a research and academic point of view. And I am looking to balance the answer with experts from a commercial setting. The aim is to define the steps to a good answer, and professional insights to improve to a great answer and discuss how potential individuality can make it into your best answer.
Beyond King’s Scholarship level, beyond imagination.
The King’s Scholarship provides a high academic benchmark for 13 years old, which is great because every child has their spark and can excel in a wide range of subjects. However the nature of this achievement is divisive because the previous winners tend to go to certain exclusive schools, and probably have additional education resources with private tuition services, or even just time to study. I think these kids are talented but likely to have gone through supervised learning with various experts and experienced tutors who guided them to the KS level. Doing 7 or 8 two hours exams, a personal statement, and an interview are not my idea of fun.
My assumption is that the winners obtain close to 100% in every exam. They all have clear goals in their personal statements (that is from them, not AI nor a tutor) and hours of interview practise under their belt so they can present the best version of themselves every time. I believe anyone can strive for this standard. The divide between those who have resource and those who have less is likely to stay with us. So I hope to create educational resources and content that will enable anyone to be closer to their aspirations and ambitions.
