Ideas, after ideas, and more ideas.
I spent 2 months working on this blog, and the content is fragmented after so many ideas. This site needs a “defragment” process, Windows 95 users would know how long these can take. An outline (as I advocated in Episode 26) will provide a structure for my key ideas to communicate.
Introduction
Key problem – Not every child has equal learning resources.
Education is an equal right for every child, but access to educational resources is not equal. My aim is for anyone to gain “the BEST education” regardless of their background.
Quest – Define an approach that can reduce resource inequality and enable individuals to strive regardless of their background.
Educational resources are access to knowledge, time to study, study equipment and environment. Some kids even struggle with meals. I will need to investigate how to reduce the barrier to knowledge and how the internet has transformed information availability. How to study efficiently and make the most of the time available, we can make small changes to our routine with the Science of Learning to ensure each student is studying as efficiently as possible. I want to optimise communication as it has the potential to influence the people around them for a more supportive environment for education. The student can also increase their sphere of influence by asking insightful questions to role models and researching in whichever field they are passionate about.
I want to define an approach that can enable individuals to strive regardless of their background, a student-driven approach supported by their parents and friends. The approach must be self-sustainable with a reason for the individual to continue working hard. The output deliverable should stand the test of time and be timeless as it captures the individual status at that time and tracks their character development. Each child is writing their story. They are the protagonists and will overcome challenges and succeed.
Surprise – King’s Scholarship (KS) is a high academic level that is mostly won by going to the right private school or private tuition services.
King’s Scholarship is a high academic level that the most prestigious UK Public Schools use to identify the top 13-year-olds. The past King’s Scholarship exams defined the knowledge required to excel from age 13 onwards. English writing forms a large part of the process, from the writing questions in the exams to the personal statement and preparation for the interview. The past KS winners are from a selected list of exclusive schools or a number of private tuition services provided tuition to perform competitively. The third approach is to break down the King’s Scholarship and provide coaching for each candidate to tailor their own study and push themselves to extend their academic limits.
Resolution – The content of KS shows what educational resources can enable children to achieve. Artificial Intelligence and modern technologies are more accessible than ever. Children from all backgrounds can learn more efficiently and effectively should they want to.
The topics that the past King’s Scholarship exams inform the knowledge required to excel from age 13 onwards. I reviewed the topics and applied my background to cover the fundamentals. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can raise the knowledge level to sufficient for any 13-year-olds. The limitations of AI need to be identified so we can still focus on the human part.
An interview and writing a cover letter or personal statement are two activities that even grown-ups need to do. In my opinion, these are the most exciting parts of KS. Mathematics and Science questions have the right answers (boring). English, Creative writing, etc., can have good answers (more interesting). The interview and personal statement are the individual’s answers (really interesting). The approach will have an emphasis on writing.
Results – The sky is the limit, each child can achieve a high academic level, should they want to, regardless of their background.
Like the Zootropolis slogan, “Anyone can be anything”. There is also an element of Kung Fu Panda 1 in that “There is no secret ingredient.” and the dragon warrior scroll was “a reflection of themselves”. The BEST version is already within each child, we have to find it. I do disagree with the motivational approach demonstrated in Kung Fu Panda 1. At BE a Scholar Tuition, we advocate a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
